Trail improvements, bike repair station, pump track are top projects for 2019

Rico Trails Alliance (RTA) was started in the spring of 2017 by residents of Rico interested in expanding non-motorized recreation in the area, improving quality of life and bringing economic benefit to Rico.

We have been getting a lot of questions lately about the legality of using e-bikes (electronic bikes) on trails in the Rico area. Please note that BLM and USFS consider e-bikes “motorized” (even “pedal assist”) and only allow them on motorized-designated roads and trails, no exceptions.

Join us for our biggest event of the year!!

This will be an opportunity for those who have never ridden Rico’s trails, as well as our Rico locals, to gather for an afternoon of riding, food, drink and live music.

The forest is open and these summer events are back on!

Rico Ride & Fundraiser: Join us for our 2nd Annual mountain bike ride and party on Saturday, August 18th starting at 10:30am (food at 1pm and music at 1:30pm). 

Colorado trail is now open! The closure area for the Burro Fire and the 416 Fire is reduced and more terrain is open.

4TH OF JULY UPDATE: We will still be participating in Rico’s 4th of July celebration and will have a tent at town park. Meet at the tent at 12:30pm on the 4th for a group bike ride on local Rico trails.

JUNE 20 UPDATE FROM USFS:

Most San Juan National Forest and Durango-area BLM-managed lands re-open on Thursday. Stage 2 Fire Restrictions Remain in Effect.

THIS EVENT HAS BEEN POSTPONED UNTIL FURTHER NOTICE DUE TO THE USFS STAGE 3 FOREST CLOSURE.

Mark your calendars for the RTA Fat Bike Bash during the Rico Winter Carnival Saturday, January 27th! Fat bike demos, beer, food, & good cheer included!

Here is a summary of our October 7, 2017 Salt Creek Trail Volunteer Work Day.

Rico Trails Alliance is holding a Salt Creek work day on Saturday, October 7th at 10am. Please meet at the Ryman trail head (end of Salt Creek trail) on the double track road off of the highway. See you there!

The Rico Trails Alliance and the Town of Rico’s Parks and Rec Department are seeking input on winter recreation and winter trails grooming in and around Rico.

First Annual 4th of July Rico Ride

Come join Rico Trails Alliance for our first annual donation day mountain bike ride this fourth of July.

The first meeting of the Rico Trails Alliance Trails Committee was held on March 28, 2017. Below is a summary of the discussion:
