Katie Stokes (RTA Secretary) bought her home in the spring of 2018, after ten years of living in Telluride and patiently waiting for the right property in Rico. The rugged terrain, quiet community and mountain culture is what drew her to Rico, and what continuously enriches her life. In the winter, she likes to safely explore the backcountry, get long days on the resort, ice skate the frozen Dolores River, and chase her pup on the skate ski track. While summer beckons bicycles, (her love for mountain biking is strong!) she still enjoys a long hike to a summit – you can’t beat the views from the top! The trails in Rico are diverse and challenging, and every season she finds new favorites. Katie is proud to be part of Rico Trails Alliance because trail stewardship is a community effort, and she loves helping others find ways to sustainably explore and enjoy the mountains. She believes human connection with nature creates and reinforces healthy perspectives, and is a key element in physical and mental health.
