Here is a brief summary of the Board meeting on Tuesday, June 20th, for those of you who were not able to attend:
We were awarded $1400 in by Dolores County’s Lottery Committee for tools and equipment!
The Board approved SweetBooks, LLC’s very generous proposal for accounting/tax return services.
The board approved the USFS volunteer agreement, Alex is working on the scope of services per the Board’s direction.
Dave Bulson, surveyor, attended and was given direction to research ownership of railroad grade along west side/south of Rico from Montelores bring north to coke ovens/Burnett and to research ownership status of Circle Trail area. We are also looking at potential projects in Rhyman, Whispering Springs (an old logging road that could connect with or near Salt Creek) and the possibility for a winter trail for skiing, snowshoeing and fat biking from Barlow south towards town. There are lots of great ideas out there, too many to mention here … please keep them coming!
Ruth Heffron was in attendance, she is with Artisans of Rico Colorado and they would like to team up with RTA to do some trail art, really cool stuff.
Ruth is also a grant writer and mentioned opportunities for GOCO funds to connect existing trails and repurpose railroad grades into multi use trails. She is going to submit a proposal to the board.
July 4th mountain bike ride event is going to be great. We are going to set up at 9:30 am next to the Mercantile, ride at 12:30 and eat around 2:30-3. Please sign up on RTA’s website (go to donations, donate $25 and in the notes state that the donation is for the July 4 ride). The route will be announced day of (local roads and trails) Amazing food provided by Aemono, beer provided by Telluride Brewing! Hope to see you all there?

Next RTA Board meeting will be Tuesday, July 25, 6:30 at Town Hall
