RTA recently received preliminary approval in May from the town of Rico to design and build a mountain bike flow trails and skills park on Town of Rico land above the Deadwood 4x4 road. The preliminary concept includes one singletrack multi-use non-motorized trail to the top of the town parcel, and two downhill-only directional non-motorized mountain bike trails with features like berms, jumps, and rollers. Parking would be parallel on CO-145 across from the former Tamosan coffee shop near Mountain Top Fuel where the highway has a wide shoulder on the east side. Existing uses of roads and trails in the area would not change. RTA is soliciting community input on this project. After the wind event earlier this month, many of the Rico area trails still have downed trees across them. If you have a report of downed trees or know that a trail has been cleared, please send them by DM or to info@ricotrailsalliance.org. Timeline PhotosAs we approach summer with a presumed increase in trail use, it’s important we band together and share the trails. It doesn’t matter if you are a hiker, a mountain biker, a trail runner or equestrian, it’s critical we respect each other and be courteous.

Until our high-country trails are clear of snow, it will be even more necessary to share the trails. We are encouraging friendly interactions, we support being kind, saying hello and using voice communication. We want you to spread the word of socially conscious trail etiquette and practice good use when on #Telluride’s trails. Put the pressure on your friends, family and trail buddies to act in accordance so that we can all get along.
